Peter S. Coleman Fund
Criteria:
Even years: to a student who excels academically and in science. Odd years: to a student from the music studio or a student from the art studio who excels in her/his studio.
Peter S. Coleman, M&A ’55 (art) studied piano at the Juilliard’s preparatory division and also attended the Art Student’s League as a youngster. A ’59 graduate of Columbia College, he earned his Ph.D. in biophysics and biochemistry from Columbia University ‘66 and did postdoctoral research at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel and Yale University. His distinguished scientific career spanned more than two decades as Professor of Biochemistry at NYU and later included a joint appointment as Senior Scientist at the Boston Biomedical Research Institute (BBRI) and adjunct Associate Professor at the Harvard Medical School. Upon his retirement in 2000, he was named Emeritus Senior Scientist by BBRI in recognition of his many valued contributions.
