Julie Gautier-Downes’ (LaG ’08) solo exhibition, Tableaux, opens at the Richmond Gallery in Spokane, Washington. In Tableaux, Julie Gautier-Downes has constructed a series of small to mid-sized installations; which study home, trauma, and loss. Each tableau is a recreation of a space that the artist has visited or occupied and represents a real or imagined failure. The audience is invited to engage with each piece as much or little as they want. These fractured environments stand side by side in the gallery as monuments to these failed relationships, lifestyles, and dreams.
