The High School of Music & Art

… established in 1936 by mayor Fiorello H. LaGuardia, who regarded it as his “most hopeful accomplishment.” Music & Art was the first high school in the United States for gifted children specializing in music and art. The “Castle on the Hill” was designed by William H. Gompert.
