Adam O’Farrill, LaG ’12 trumpet player and composer, was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He was born into a deep musical legacy that includes legendary Afro-Cuban composer Chico O’Farrill, pianist and bandleader Arturo O’Farrill, and pianist and educator Alison Deane. Adam has performed with such artists as Arturo O’Farrill, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Vijay Iyer, Ambrose Akinmusire, Roy Hargrove, and Dave Liebman, and has performed around the world, everywhere from the Newport Jazz Festival to the Havana Plaza Jazz Festival. He has co-led a band with his brother and drummer, Zack, called The O’Farrill Brothers Band. They released two albums, Giant Peach (2011), and Sensing Flight (2013), to critical acclaim, including a 4-star review in Downbeat Magazine for the latter.В A short while ago, Adam recorded with Rudresh Mahanthappa on his new album, Bird Calls, which has received critical acclaim, and just won Best Jazz Album in the 2015 Downbeat Critics Poll.В  He also recently performed with Roy Hargrove in honor of The Jazz Gallery’s 20th Anniversary Series.В В In November 2014, O’Farrill was named the 3rd place winner in the 2014 Thelonious Monk Institute Jazz Trumpet Competition.

O’Farrill has since recorded a not yet titled album with his newest group,В Stranger Days,В featuring Chad Lefkowitz-Brown on saxophone, Walter Stinson on bass and Zack O’Farrill on drums.В  Stranger Days has performed all over the New England area, including shows atВ  The Tribeca Performing Arts Center, The Jazz Gallery, Yale University, Williams College, The Lilypad in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and more.
